Moving Stage Project Miloupartout (October – December 2009)

What is Miloupartout?

The Moving Stage Project Miloupourtout is an intercultural performance project for
young artists. It has been developed in order to provide performers (e.g. from dance,
theatre, acrobatics and pantomime) the possibility to present their work in several regions
in Europe on a moving stage. Hence, we shall create a multicultural evening variety show
with artists from several different countries. During several days of workshops and
rehearsal, the participants can collect new impulses for their pieces. The final evening
programme will consist of a variety show which is created of several groups with up to
30 participating performers variety show. After the event the artists will have the
possibility to further exchange ideas and techniques.

 

Where and when will Miloupartout take place?

In order to create a dynamic and moving variety show, a core group of performers will
travel from Berlin to Porto via Barcelona between mid October and the end of
November. Thus the conception and performative usage of the mobile stage will render
possible to present shows independently from the local performing spaces, often in
surprising locations especially scouted by us!

 

What idea is behind the project?

With a close proximity to the melodious name of Miloupourtout – a fantasy name which
highlights the playful, dynamic and connecting spirit of our project – we intend to
provide an intercultural and transnational artistic platform, which shall leave behind
prejudice and national stereotyping. We intend to build cultural bridges by bringing
together people from different national, artistic and disciplinary backgrounds. Through
this exchange, we learn from each other by intern workshops, which reflect the creation
in our variety show. This show is characterized by the different – performative – accents
of people from all over Europe. We further want to stress not only the phase of
performance, but also the post-production through interactive and dynamic ways of
participation. This will also continue after finishing the tour, as we wish to create an
inter-European space with a close network for future projects such as workshops and job
placements in the artistic area.

 

Are there any possibilities to join Miloupartout?

Miloupartout` is open minded to any kind of participation – on stage, as well as behind
the scenes! That means in the phases of production and post-production performers as
well as spectators will have the possibility to enrich the project with their photos, film
material, written observations, critiques etc. These contributions will be visualized on
our constantly actualized internet platform. Following the devise “each one teach one”,
everybody is invited to be part of our internet community, which offers different bulletin
boards where you can post the latest news from activities like workshops up to job
opportunities all around the world.
